Off the Links in Arizona

An Arizona Golf Vacation

Bird Golf offers instruction at three great locations in the state of Arizona. The Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass is the only hotel in North America to receive Sheraton’s prestigious Grand designation, and immerses guests into the heritage and culture of the Gila River Indian Community. The Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort is home to glorious view of the Santa Catalina mountains. And the Sedona Golf Resort is nestled in the famed red rocks of Sedona. No matter where you choose to go, you’re in for a remarkable experience!

To make the most of your trip, Bird Golf encourages you to ensure that the hours spent off the links are just as fulfilling as those spent in golf instruction. To that end, we’ve compiled a few suggestions for how to enjoy yourself during your stay in Arizona.

See the Canyons

You may already be planning to swing by the Grand Canyon while you’re on your Arizona golf trip, but did you know that canyons are plentiful throughout the state? There are plenty to see. Lower Antelope Canyon is famous for the beauty of its rock formations and offers kayak tours. Canyon de Chelly offers a rich history lesson about the culture of the Navajo people who lived there for millennia. And Walnut Canyon offers educational programs for visitors of all ages interested to learn about the history of the canyon and the people who called it home.

Botanical Gardens

It might be the last thing you’re expecting in the middle of the desert, but Arizona loves to show off its plant life, and there is plenty to see! Visit Desert Botanical Garden at night for the Electric Desert display, in which light and sound are projected over the gorgeous plant life. At Ro Ho En, the Japanese Friendship Garden, you’ll encounter cultural offerings such as a bamboo workshop, a pine pruning lesson, meditation, and even tai-chi. And you can visit the Cox Cactus Fram to learn all about cacti and succulents, and maybe even take one home with you!

Balloon Rides

The American Southwest is famous for hot air balloons, and Arizona is no exception. No matter where you are in the state, you won’t have to travel far to find a company offering a balloon excursion. You’ll be able to take in the incredible scenery from a unique vantage point. Different balloon companies offer different experiences—some go so far as to include a lunch after touchdown—so shop around and find the best experience for you!

Shopping

If your idea of a good time on vacation is hitting the shops, never fear! Arizona boasts some of the best around. Scottsdale Fashion Square is the biggest shopping mall in the Southwest. The state also offers a plethora of outlets, and many unique boutiques where you can purchase one of a kind items, including cultural pieces crafted by Native Americans. Just be careful not to shop until you drop—you’ll need some energy for your golf game tomorrow!

Plan your golf getaway to Arizona today. It’s sure to be a trip you’ll never forget!
