Preparing for My Golf School
1 Should I account for travel days?
Typically, students arrive at the destination and check into their hotel the evening before the start of the golf school. This allows you to start your golf school feeling refreshed and ready to begin the first morning of your golf school.
When checking out, you have the option to check out on the day of your final day of golf school and store your luggage with the hotel bellman. It is recommended to schedule your departing flight later in the evening. However, if you prefer, many of our students choose to extend their stay by one additional night and check out the following morning.
For planning purposes, plan on your last practice round lasting until around 4:00 in the afternoon.
2 What should I pack for my golf school?
We want you to be fully prepared so you can focus on getting the most out of your Bird Golf experience. Here’s a recommended checklist to help you pack with confidence:
Equipment Checklist:
- Golf clubs (rental clubs available upon request)
- Golf balls and tees
- Golf shoes (no metal spikes; optional)
- Golf gloves (optional)
- Hat or visor and sunglasses (recommended)
- Sunscreen and lip balm (recommended)
- Water bottle (recommended)
We also suggest bringing removable layers, rain gear, or a light jacket depending on your destination and time of year.
3 What is the dress code and how should I ship my golf clubs?
Dress Code Guidelines:
To ensure a proper golf environment, we ask all students to follow standard golf attire:
- Collared shirts are required
- Men: long pants or golf shorts
- Women: long pants, shorts, capris, or modest-length golf skirts
- Comfortable socks to help prevent blisters
Not permitted:
- T-shirts
- Jeans
- Sandals, boots, or flats
4 How should I ship my golf clubs to the golf school?
If you prefer to ship your clubs, we recommend using our partner, ShipSticks, for a smooth and reliable experience.
- Ship your clubs directly to the resort or golf course address, not Bird Golf Academy
- Add an extra shipping day as a precaution to avoid delays
Please note that Bird Golf is not responsible for:
- Clubs arriving late
- Clubs shipped to the incorrect address
Using a trusted shipping partner helps ensure your equipment arrives safely and on time for your golf school.
5 Packing and Weather
Weather is important to consider when deciding what to pack for a golf school. We want you to have the right gear when you need it most. Whether you’re golfing on the beaches of Florida, staring at the base of Pike’s Peak in Colorado, or finessing your golf shots in the desert, you never know what Mother Nature might bring.
Please check the weather of your destination before you leave and be sure to be prepared for all possible conditions with the right gear – this includes bringing removable layers, sun protection, rain gear, vest or wind jacket.
Policies & Travel Information
1 What if I have to cancel my trip?
We understand things happen in life and sometimes you have to cancel or change your golf school. We make it easy as possible to change your dates, location, or even instructor based on what is best for you!
Have a question? Just give us a call, 877-4-BIRDGO.
2 What is the refund policy for inclement weather?
Regarding inclement weather, we closely monitor the forecast, and if it seems that the golf school will be completely rained out, we will consult with you to reschedule for a different time. If there is some rain during the school, we may be able to increase the hours of instruction on another day to ensure that you still receive the full allotment of hours.
In the event of a complete rain out after your arrival, we would credit you with the days that you could utilize at a later time, minus any hotel expenses that were incurred.
3 Do I need to tip my instructor?
A tip is not expected but any amount that you choose to give would be greatly appreciated. Your instructor takes great pride in their work, and a tip would reinforce that they did a great job. While some people tip around $75-$100 per day, there is no set scale, so any amount would be terrific.
General Golf School Questions
1 What should I look for when choosing a golf school?
When choosing a golf school, look beyond the number of instructional hours. Consider the student-to-instructor ratio, whether on-course coaching is included, the experience and credentials of the instructors, and whether the program provides personalized instruction tailored to your goals. It’s also important to ask whether you’ll work with the same instructor throughout the experience and if follow-up support is available after the school ends. The best golf schools focus on helping you build skills you can continue to improve long after you return home.
2 Are golf schools worth the money?
For many golfers, a golf school can provide more value than months of traditional lessons because it offers an immersive learning experience. Instead of working on one aspect of your game for an hour at a time, you’ll spend several days focused entirely on improvement with direct feedback from an experienced instructor. At Bird Golf, students receive personalized coaching, on-course instruction, practice sessions, and a customized improvement plan, along with follow-up support after the school. The combination of intensive instruction and continued guidance often helps golfers make meaningful progress more quickly.
3 How do Bird Golf schools compare to private lessons?
Both Bird Golf schools and private lessons can help you improve, but they offer very different learning experiences. Traditional private lessons are typically spread out over weeks or months, allowing golfers to work on their game gradually. Bird Golf schools provide an immersive learning environment with 6 hours of personalized instruction per day, giving students the opportunity to work directly with a PGA or LPGA professional and immediately apply what they learn on the practice range and golf course.
4 Why should I choose Bird Golf over a traditional golf lesson?
Bird Golf schools provide 6 hours of personalized instruction per day, including on-course coaching, practice sessions, video analysis when appropriate, and a customized improvement plan. Unlike traditional lessons that are often limited to one hour at a time, Bird Golf’s immersive format allows instructors to identify patterns, make adjustments, and reinforce improvements in real playing situations. Students also receive unlimited follow-up support after the school, helping them continue their progress long after the experience ends.
5 What makes Bird Golf different from other golf schools?
Bird Golf combines private instruction, resort accommodations, daily on-course coaching, unlimited practice, and ongoing follow-up support after the school ends. Students work directly with one instructor throughout the experience.
6 What is the difference between one-on-one and group golf instruction?
One-on-one instruction provides your instructor’s complete attention throughout the entire learning experience. Every lesson, practice session, and on-course discussion is tailored specifically to your swing, strengths, challenges, and goals. In group instruction, the instructor’s attention must be divided among multiple students, which can limit the amount of personalized coaching each golfer receives. Bird Golf offers private instruction, one-on-one or two-on-one, ensuring personalized learning and quick identification of key improvement areas. You will never be grouped with unfamiliar individuals.
7 Can beginners attend Bird Golf?
Absolutely. Bird Golf schools are designed for golfers of all skill levels, including beginners. Our instructors customize the experience based on your current ability, learning style, and goals. Whether you’re learning the fundamentals for the first time or working to lower your handicap, your instructor will create a personalized plan that meets you where you are and helps you build confidence in your game.
8 How much improvement can I realistically expect?
Every golfer is different, but most students leave with a clear understanding of their swing tendencies, personalized drills, and a practice plan tailored to their goals. Improvement depends on factors such as current skill level, commitment to practice, and individual learning pace. Some students have improved by 8-10 strokes, and although we can’t promise this, you’ll leave as a different golfer.
